After spending the night in Buffalo, Wyoming, we drove east to Devils Tower. It was one of the highlights of our trip because of its significance in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." We then continued east into South Dakota, a state with a surprising wealth of attractions. We visited Mount Rushmore along with a museum dedicated to its creator, Gutzon Borglum, and spent the night in Rapid City. The next day, we saw Badlands National Park and the Mitchell Corn Palace before stopping in Sioux Falls.
